Frames Versatile conveyor idlers for bulk handling with enhanced stability and productivity

Belt Conveyor Idlers

Transoms and frames for troughing sets for bulk material handling

In bulk material handling applications, idlers play an essential role as a core component of belt conveyor systems. They are composed of one or more rollers, supported or suspended by dedicated frames and transoms, designed to ensure proper belt support and stability. Rulmeca manufactures a wide range of idler types and configurations, suitable for different operating conditions and load requirements.

In a belt conveyor system, two main categories of idler sets can be identified. Upper carrying sets are designed to support the loaded belt section and facilitate material transport. Lower return sets, instead, support the unloaded belt along its return path.

Upper troughing sets are generally available in two basic arrangements. Flat sets consist of a single horizontal roller, typically supported by fixed brackets connected to the conveyor structure. Troughed sets usually include three rollers mounted within a frame, which is fixed to the structure and shapes the belt to contain bulk material effectively. Additional idler solutions for the loaded side include impact troughing sets, equipped with rollers fitted with rubber rings to absorb shocks, and suspended garland sets, used in specific applications.

The Rulmeca range also includes self-centering troughing sets, designed to correct belt misalignment and keep the belt constantly in a central running position.

Across Rulmeca’s extensive product portfolio, all belt conveyor idlers share the same fundamental purpose: supporting the belt and conveyed material along the entire conveyor length, preventing excessive stretching, bending or structural failure. This ensures smooth and efficient conveyor operation, reduces the risk of material spillage, and contributes to improved safety and overall productivity.
