Maximizing Efficiency with Self-Centering Troughing Sets

In demanding industrial environments, conveyor belts are often subjected to variable loads and challenging operating conditions that can cause lateral movement, leading to misalignment and reduced efficiency. To address this issue, self-centering troughing sets are used to automatically correct belt tracking and maintain the belt in a stable and centred position.

These sets consist of a series of rollers arranged in a trough configuration, mounted on a transom connected to a slewing ring that allows limited rotation - typically between 5 and 8 degrees - to accommodate variations in vertical loading. The design also incorporates tapered roller bearings, which enhance performance by absorbing side forces and reducing wear.

Specifications

Designed for installation on the upper belt strand, these self-centering troughing sets ensure smooth and consistent belt operation even under fluctuating conditions. For optimal performance, it is recommended to install them approximately 15 meters from the pulley and at intervals of 30 meters along the conveyor line. Available in three models:

  • S:featuring a rigid arm
  • F:equipped with a pivoting arm and brake
  • R:designed with a centralized pivoting arm for reversible belts

These items are easily interchangeable with standard transoms, making them adaptable for both new installations and retrofitting existing systems. In addition, beyond improving belt tracking, self-centering troughing sets enhance overall operational reliability by maintaining the belt in its proper position, reducing the risk of belt edge damage, spillage, and downtime caused by misalignment. This results in smoother material flow and lower maintenance needs, becoming a cost-effective solution.

Using Standard Carrying or Return Rollers (With No Rubber Rings)

A key feature of our self-aligning troughing and return sets is the use of standard carrying or return rollers, which operate efficiently without rubber rings. These rollers provide excellent belt support and uniform load distribution while maintaining a simplified design that reduces maintenance complexity.

The absence of rubber rings minimizes material buildup and contamination risks, making these rollers ideal for applications with low adhesion concerns. Their straightforward design ensures easy integration into existing conveyor systems, reducing installation time and long-term operational costs, perfect for efficient and reliable conveyor operation.
