The Drum Motor 113LS is an advanced and efficient solution designed specifically for demanding conveyor applications. Unlike traditional conveyor drive systems—where the motor, gearbox and other mechanical components are mounted externally—this product houses all essential parts within a single casing. This design not only optimizes space but also increases safety, reliability, and efficiency.
At its core, the 113LS uses a steel helical gearbox, a configuration known for its high strength, smooth power transmission and reduced noise levels. A helical gearbox employs gears whose teeth are cut at an angle (helix), allowing them to engage gradually rather than abruptly. This results in quieter operation, higher torque output, and increased durability.
All mechanical components of the 113LS are completely enclosed within the drum casing. This sealed construction enhances compactness while preventing contamination from dust and moisture: common issues in conveyor systems used in food processing, pharmaceuticals, or outdoor environments.
Furthermore, depending on the installation requirements, the 113LS model can be customized with different body materials and electrical connections to suit various industrial environments and requirements, ensuring maximum adaptability in different applications.
The 113LS series is engineered to deliver high performance in tough conditions. Its design and technical specifications make it a tough and powerful drive unit, especially suitable for unit handling conveyors where reliability and durability are essential.
The bearing houses are coated with a salt-water-resistant aluminium layer, making them ideal for environments exposed to humidity or corrosive agents. Meanwhile the dual voltage capability enables the drum motor to operate in a wide variety of electrical systems, significantly increasing installation flexibility.
The roller includes a 3-phase AC induction motor, characterized for its robustness and stable performance, as well as its low maintenance needs. Safety is also enhanced by an integral motor protection that prevents overheating or electrical faults. A steel-hardened helical spur gear inside the structure, ensures high torque transmission.
A crucial advantage comes from the fact that internal components are permanently lubricated so no routine servicing is required: this strongly reduces maintenance costs.
The rotation provided by the drum roller is called reversible so that it allows the conveyor belt to run in either direction when needed. Moreover, roller whose lengths are above 800mm feature a reinforced shaft that ensures mechanical stability in larger conveyor configurations. Lastly, this drum roller provides low noise operation, essential where noise reduction is a priority.
Thanks to its innovative structure, the Drum Motor 113LS is specifically designed for high use light and medium-duty conveyors requiring a strong drive, particularly in facilities where reliable and continuous performance is essential. Typical applications include:
The security provided by efficient material handling components capable of guaranteeing reliability and durability of conveyors.
Material handling components studied and manufactured to guarantee easy cleaning and compliance with hygiene regulations.
Plus
An essential advantage of the 113LS drum motor is its self-contained design. In this structure, the motor, gearbox, and bearings are all enclosed within a single hermetically sealed drum. This not only saves significant space compared to conventional externally mounted conveyors, but also simplifies installation, reduces the risk of damage, and enhances operator safety by removing exposed moving parts.
Equipped with steel helical gearing and industrial-grade AC motor, the 113LS series delivers high torque and consistent power output, crucial advantages for conveyors handling heavy loads. The helical gearing provides efficient energy transfer, while the motor’s dual-voltage capability allows installation in various electrical networks. The result is a drive unit that performs strongly under demanding conditions, while maintaining low energy consumption and minimal noise.
Durability and low maintenance are central to Rulmeca’s product development. The 113LS features a stainless steel, hermetically sealed construction, lifetime lubrication, and fully enclosed powertrain. Together, these elements result in stress and costs reduction, delivering a reliable and maintenance free drum motor.
