Rulmeca range of motorized pulleys for bulk handling applications provides two different loading options in the 400 mm diameter:
Understanding the differences between models and types is essential when selecting the most suitable solution, starting with the estimated belt tension. For optimal performance and safety, the actual radial load must always remain below the maximum allowable limit.
Special care should be taken when using multiply thick, heavy or large belts as they can generate excessive belt tension, putting stress on the system and reducing performance. If the selected pulley diameter cannot achieve the required tension for your specific application, it is advisable to choose a larger diameter to maintain belt integrity, ensure proper functionality and prevent failure.
M for Medium-duty
The internal components of 400M motorized pulleys are engineered to withstand tough, irregular and extreme working conditions. They are commonly used in grain storage facilities, cement plants, steel mills and fertilizer processing sites, as well as they can provide an excellent solution for heavy mobile crushing and screening applications. These pulleys deliver reliable performance and maintain sufficient belt tension in demanding environments where material consistency and operating conditions can vary widely.
H for Heavy-duty
The design of these products features a solid 3-stage gearbox created to deliver the necessary torque for low-speed and and high-power performance, making them ideal for extremely challenging applications.
The heavy-duty and solid construction allows the pulley to handle irregular bulk loads and materials under extremely harsh and brutal conditions without compromising durability, efficiency or overall performance. These pulleys ensure smooth conveyor operation even in challanging conditions, becoming an ideal choice for applications in demanding industrial settings, such as mining sites, recycling plants, port terminals and heavy-duty material handling systems, where maximum strength and reliability are essential.
Both 400M and 400H models are designed to perform reliably in tough and irregular operating conditions. By combining advanced engineering with integrated components, they reduce maintenance, save space, and improve overall conveyor system efficiency. Their sealed design protects internal parts, extending their lifespan and maintaining operational safety, while also contributing to safer operation by containing moving parts safely inside the pulley.
Material handling components ideal for mining applications that require flexibility while guaranteeing durability and safety during transportation.

Plus
Motorized pulleys 400M & 400H feature a design that integrates the drive unit, bearings, and gearbox directly within the pulley shell, eliminating the need for external drive components such as chains, gears, or couplings. This compact design saves valuable space in conveyor systems, simplifies installation, reduces mechanical complexity, and makes the product ideal for applications in confined areas.
Since all the components of the all-in-one pulley are enclosed within the shell, the total weight is evenly distributed along the structure. This balance minimizes stress that could cause wear or misalignment on the conveyor framework. In addition, balanced operation ensures smoother material handling, reduces maintenance downtime, and improves overall productivity.
Designed for durability, the shell of these motorized pulleys protects all internal components even from harsh industrial environments, including extreme temperatures, chemicals and moisture risk. This sealed construction reduces the risk of mechanical failure because of environmental exposure and eliminates the need for frequent cleaning or lubrication, ensuring consistent performance regardless of external influences or working conditions.
