The XPS series is the result of Rulmeca’s expertise in designing and manufacturing products capable of operating under the heaviest loads and in the harshest environments. Its pinion sprocket design, equipped with a single or double sprocket welded to the end of the tube, is specifically intended for chain driven roller conveyors.
Like the crown sprocket designed rollers, XPS rollers can be integrated into two chain transmission systems:
In both versions, the pinion sprocket ensures compact transmission dimensions below the roller plane, preventing interference between the chain and the conveyed material.
XPS series rollers are fully interchangeable with Rulmeca series 139 and other similar pinion type rollers. However, they stand out for their higher reliability and durability under demanding operating conditions. Their monolithic “UNIBLOC” structure provides exceptional strength and load-bearing capacity making them ideal for chain-driven conveyors handling heavy, irregularly shaped, or unevenly distributed loads. Each roller is equipped with a multi-lip labyrinth sealing system made of resistant and anticorrosive thermoplastic material. This protects against environmental contaminants such as dirt and moisture, ensuring reliable operation even in aggressive industrial settings. Moreover, the recessed end cap and optimized internal component layout enhance protection and service life. XPS series represents an evolution of the PS series of driven rollers: they are both available in P1C and P2C configurations. The 20-mm diameter shaft is typically drilled and threaded, allowing easy assembly and contributing to increase the structural rigidity. The labyrinth seal system made from highly durable thermoplastic material provides an elevated level of protection against external contamination.
Regarding operating conditions, these rollers are designed to be used in environments with a wide temperature range, from –20°C to +100°C. Lower temperatures generally do not pose a problem; however, operation outside the specified range requires verification of the application conditions. The maximum allowable handling speed is 0.5 m/s.

XPS Series chain driven roller is designed for handling heavy loads and features a single or double sprocket welded to the end of the tube. While it shares the technical and design characteristics of PS rollers family, the XPS series stand out from other Rulmeca driven rollers by offering higher strength, precision and reliability even in the most demanding applications.
The multi-lip labyrinth sealing system is made of highly resistant and anticorrosive thermoplastic material, providing a high level of protection against environmental contamination. This ensures reliable performance in both indoor and outdoor applications, even when exposed to dust, moisture, or other harsh conditions.
The XPS model for chain driven roller conveyors is the ideal solution for precise and controlled handling of a wide variety of heavy pallets, packages or individual items. It is also used to transport units with regular or irregular shapes. Therefore, it can be effectively applied across multiple industrial sectors, including distribution centres, warehouses, production and packaging lines and airports.

For the rollers diameter 76 and 89 mm, aluminium flanges are supplied separately in a special kit, composed by 2 elements and complete with zinc plated fixing bolts to assemble them in different ways. Attention: the screws must be tightened by torque wrench = 13 Nm
Although not special, information on this design is given. The rough or zinc plated steel tube “N” or “Z and J” rollers with “D” values as per table, can be covered with a soft, elastic and smooth surface (hardness 73 ShA) grey colour (RAL 9006) PVC (Polyvinylchloride) plastic tube, particularly resistant to chemical agents. It is normally used to protect the roller surfaces and mostly to avoid scratching painted, enamelled, smooth, etc. load, and in some cases to increase friction. The PVC lagging is simply fitted on the tube with excellent coupling thanks to elastic tightening. Application temperatures ranging from -10°C to +50°C.

Polyurethane lagging with 90 ± 5 Sh.A hardness, orange colour, a material which is particularly resistant to cuts, wear and abrasion. Hardness, colour and thickness can be supplied with other values on request.
Lagging with 70 ± 5 Sh.A hardness, with surface turned to 3 mm minimum thickness. On request the lagging can be with different hardnesses or thicknesses or with glued rubber, Adiprene, Neoprene and Silicone compatibily with the number of rollers requested.
