Rulmeca operates a Service centre fully dedicated to the repair and assembly of Motorized Pulleys
The problem of conveyed material adhering to the conveyor belt, occurs frequently with wet or sticky material, resulting in frequent downtime for maintenance, and clean up, with consequent loss of production. The problems of belt cleaning have increased in parallel with the development of conveyors of ever increasing lengths, speed and belts widths, necessary to satisfy the need to maximise load capacities. Therefore, the use of cleaning equipment has become an indispensable requirement to assure general plant efficiency and to reduce the periods of service needed for maintenance. There has been a notable development of this equipment in recent time for differing reasons: prolonging the life of the conveyor limiting the deterioration of the belt, improving the energy efficiency of the installation, reducing loss of material thereby increasing the load capacity, eliminating a major cause of wear on the return rollers.
Characteristics and Indications of Use
The belt cleaners of series P are characterized by scraper components (TIPS) attached to flexible and highly resistant rubber elements mounted on a tubular frame. These supports, serving as anchors for the scrapers, strike the right balance between the frictional force and the necessary force to remove residual scale from the belt surface.
To function correctly, the pressure of the blade application is very low, but it can be controlled by adjusting an opposing screw from the moveable support to the support frame.
Thanks to their simple construction, these cleaners are very easy to install and maintain, with minimal service costs. The high quality of the materials used and the robustness of the components, designed to withstand overload conditions, ensure a long and efficient operational life.
Special versions can be provided for food or chemical environments in addition to the standard types.
The belt cleaners of series R also use a tubular member, with scraper blade components mounted on its structure and fixed between intermediate rubber supports, similar to series P. The rubber components are cleverly designed to allow the scraper blades to flex in both directions, without damaging the belt in case of unforeseen pressures.
The scraper blade is positioned perpendicular to the belt, differing from the series P cleaner. The correct installation and precise regulation of the belt cleaner are crucial for efficient system function, with detailed instructions provided in an accompanying booklet.
The belt cleaner series H shares similar characteristics with the preceding series, utilizing a tubular member. Multiple scraper blades are mounted on this structure and fixed via supporting arms, which are proportional in size to the diameter of the drum and ultimately anchored in rubber supports.
The design characteristics of the system allow for the use of extremely low functional pressure, precisely controlled by an appropriate regulating screw.
The belt cleaner operates with a tangential action and is applied to the external front part of the pulley. It effectively cleans the belt on the pulley using a perpendicular or square application.
The simplicity of the design in this series ensures excellent long-term performance, resulting in cost savings both in management and in the reduction of labor costs associated with maintenance.
It can be easily installed on the belt conveyor structure and is suitable for reversible, extendable, and other types of conveyors.
The cleaner type D represents a new technology. It consists of a carbon steel blade welded to a curved support, forming a unique scraper blade that is inserted into a robust structural arc mounted on special bearings. Although there is vertical adjustment, the system is under spring pressure, causing the curved structure to rotate as a whole. The blade pressure is stronger at the center, where there is typically the most residue to remove, and decreases towards the edges. This controlled pressure ensures the scraper is most effective in high-wear areas of the blade and belt.
The unique curved design prevents material buildup, maintaining efficient cleaning action. The scraper blade, the only component subject to wear, can be easily and quickly replaced without disassembling the scraper.
This universal belt cleaner is particularly recommended for high-speed single directional conveyor belts, especially when the conveyed material is very wet and sticky. Enhanced cleaning performance can be achieved by using this cleaner in conjunction with the series H cleaner.
The most economical cleaners feature a scraper made of anti-abrasive rubber. These cleaners are suitable for light belts where cost efficiency is crucial. They are recommended for belt widths ranging from 400 to 1200 mm.
The PLG cleaner consists of a steel structure housing a 15 mm thick anti-abrasive rubber blade (60 shore). Given the pressure exerted on the belt, this cleaner should ideally be installed during the initial setup of the conveyor system. The PLG cleaner is designed for belt widths of 400, 500, and 650 mm and should be installed near the drive drum.
The belt plough cleaner system is applied to the underside of the return belt, adjacent to the return drum. It effectively removes any residual material by diverting it with the “V” design before it reaches the belt's terminal drum.
There are two models:
- The standard VLG model
- The VLP model with pressure regulation for heavy-duty applications, tailored to specific customer needs.
The belt plough cleaner should be installed at the terminal end of the belt, near the return drum, with the plough positioned opposite to the direction of belt movement.
