Rulmeca Motorized pulleys installed in crushing plants: The Italian case history of Continental Nord

Rulmeca motorized pulleys were especially chosen by the Company Continental Nord – Verona – Italy, which manufactures mobile crushing plants.
The MV and FV series are the most advanced solutions for the crushing of materials coming from quarries and demolition sites thanks to their construction features, usability and efficiency. The extreme versatility of MV and FV series allows these machines to be used in many different situations with a high rate of results.
These machines are powered by a generator, feeding the various utilities and the crawler hydraulic engine. This is driven by a radio control for the highest operational flexibility on the plant.
The machine is completed by a belt conveyor for the small waste and an overband magnetic belt separator.
In this specific application Continental Nord have been using Rulmeca motorized pulleys – diameter 220mm, with power ranging from 3 to 5.50 kW and diameter 320mm with power 7.50 kW, - all with anticlockwise backstops and coated by 6 mm thick diamond rubber.
The Company Continental Nord chose Rulmeca motorized pulleys for many reasons such as the reduced weight and volume, equal balance of the belt heads, quick and easy assembly and good handling of the plant.
The motor, gearbox and bearings of Rulmeca motorized pulleys are totally enclosed in the steel shell, so they cannot be damaged by any type of working or environmental condition such as water, dust, dirt, sand, chemical substances, grease and oil.
Having their driving elements and bearings totally enclosed in the tube, the parts take up reduced space in comparison with conventional driving systems and they don’t need any additional costs for chains, straps, bearings supports and special guarding.
Rulmeca motorized pulleys are lighter than standard driving systems and, as their weight is centred to the conveyor it is possible to use lighter and less costly structures.
Belt conveyors driven by Rulmeca motorized pulleys calculate out to be much more profitable than conventional systems thanks to the decreased number of components, which means making all the purchasing, storage and components assembling processes easier.
Their installation takes even less than a quarter of the time needed to install a conventional driving system.
