On December, 6th 2006 Rulli Rulmeca S.p.A., headquarters of the Rulmeca Group of Companies, announced the acquisition of the leading South African roller manufacturer MELCO Conveyor Equipment, a well known brand in South Africa and on the international bulk handling market.

Melco, established in 1970 employs over 250 people who are all dedicated to the development, manufacture and marketing of high quality, competitively priced, conveyor idlers and structure.
Being an ISO 9001 listed Company; Melco is amongst the most highly respected suppliers of conveyor equipment in the world today. Having capacity for the manufacture of over 4000 idlers, and 5000' of conveyor structure per day, Melco has the ability to meet the most demanding delivery programs.

Standards and specifications
The vast product range designed and manufactured by Melco, meets the requirements of all major dimensional and quality specifications used around the world, including CEMA, BS, DIN, AS, SABS, ISO and JIS.

Quality system Management
As an ISO 9001 listed Company, Melco operates a Quality Management System, which controls every aspect of the Company. With accreditation through internationally recognized SGS, systems are audited regularly to ensure compliance with the highest standards. All Manufacturing Operations are controlled using Standard Operating Procedures, Works Instructions and Process Audit Sheets.
Non-Manufacturing activities are controlled with Works Instructions and ISO 9001 dictated Procedures and Systems. Any departure from a system or procedure is handled through the process of Non Conformance Reports, in which each problem is reported, the root cause identified, the cost estimated, and the corrective action to eliminate reoccurrence determined and implemented. A Quality Improvement Team, which includes all levels of Management, is convened on a monthly basis, to review the Price of Non Conformance, which is aimed at 0.2% of turnover.
